I just wanted to let you know about my nice experience with your Service Dept.
Our primary home is in Weston, Vermont; however we spend spring and fall in our home in Dataw Island. Our plan was to leave early Saturday morning May 19. The day before, at 4 PM Friday, I was getting no where on the phone with Comcast so I gave up and drove to the Comcast office on Ladys Island. After arranging for our service suspension I got back in the car and discovered that the steering did not work - I couldn't drive the car. I was able to drive backwards and discovered all sorts of fluid on the pavement. After calling On Star (they couldn't help) I called your service dept. and talked with Rob and we talked about what can be done. Here it was late Friday afternoon and nothing could be done until Monday. Our car was packed and ready to drive 2 full days to Vermont! While he was looking up my records I pulled out my receipt which indicated that 2 weeks prior during service the tech checked and replaced the steering hose and fluid. Rob asked if I could get the car towed to your service dept. and they could take a look, but probably nothing could be done until Monday. He contaced the towing service you use and he was there rather quickly. I pleaded with Rob to see if there was any other option since I really didn't want to delay our trip (otherwise many complications). When I arrived with the car I discovered that Rob had held up 2 service techs (this was well after 5 PM) who checked the car and discovered that the hose had popped off and had to be reclamped. They completed that and then filled it with fluid, released the trapped air, and cleaned up the engine (it sprayed everwhere).
Needless to say, I was able to return home in time for a drink and a late dinner and to complete our packing. We arrived in Vermont after a smooth comfortable ride late Sunday. We were wondering what would have happened had I not gone to Comcast. Travelling 70 mph on Rt 95 and loosing steering would have been hairy but the trouble of getting service in some remote place in NC and having to wait in a motel didn't sound like too much fun.
Rob and his 2 techs were really terrific - very capable and very pleasant. Rob was most apologetic for the mishap(that's not why I'm writing you) plus he gave me some free oil changes, and a detail job when we return in the fall.
Thanks very much - your organization went out of their way to really help. By the way, our GMC Acadia is with out a doubt the best, most comfortable and reliable car we have ever had. We'll be back.
